So as my kid is only 3 and 8 months, I know I can’t really speak for the teenage/adolescent crowd. But there are some essential items I’ve found I can’t leave home without.
Everybody Loves: Snacks, Snacks and More Snacks
It’s definitely a good idea to always have some kind of snacks on you. Whether it’s in the car or in your purse (or diaper bag). And it helps if kids like it.
Some of the more healthy snacks I’ll pack include:
- Popcorn
- Very small cut up fresh fruit
- Dried Fruit
- Cheese sticks
- Squeeze it apple sauces
Please note it’s important to be mindful of choking hazards especially when driving children, Because of that, I love the squeeze it fruit pouches.
Don’t Leave Home Without Wipes (Kleenex, Towels, etc)
It’s always a good idea to have wipes of some kind (no matter the age of the child). And it doesn’t matter what kind of wipe but the more the easier.
Baby wipes are great because they’re pre moistened for dirty faces. I also like to use them to wipe hands off after applying hand sanitizer.
Generally, my car is always stocked with Kleenex. Recently, I’ve added a hand towel for the back seat, because I just never know when I might need to wipe up a bigger mess.
Hot or Not: Water is a Necessity
Finally, I would say the most important thing to always carry is water. However you like to drink it (with sugar or without), water is a necessity.
I always make sure to carry bottled water with me wherever I go. This is a great idea for not only my kid, but also me!
Please note that it’s actually not healthy to leave plastic water bottles in cars on hot days. The sun will heat the bottles and release toxic materials into the water.
These 3 Things I Don’t Leave Home without
These are just 3 things I’ve found I can’t leave home without. They literally are a necessity whenever I leave the house. Because the way my toddler eats, (haphazardly) she wants random snacks seemingly out of nowhere. Rather than pull over to a fast food joint, it’s easier to just have a snack on me.
And the same principle applies to water or drinks.
Actually you can say that wipes falls in there along with the food because she makes a mess when eating.
So, there you have it!
