My maternal grandparents were both professional visual artists. However, I enjoy art and I like to think I picked up some of their creativity. Regardless of my actual talent, arts and crafts were (and are) some of my most favorite activities. Therefore my daughter also loves to experiment with art. The question remains: Although each piece is a mini Picasso, what do I do with all her works of art? Here are 5 ways to store children’s artwork.
How do You Store Your Kids’ Art work?
It’s a dilemma for many parents.
What do you do with all your children’s wonderful works of art? You can’t possibly save everything.
However, the problem is that of course you love your kid and you don”t want to throw it away.
As a clutter warrior, I’m always on the lookout for different ways to “recycle” my child’s amazing artwork.
Moreover, it’s a good idea to come up with your own general rule or idea of how to handle your children’s works.
As a general rule, I do the following: First, I display everything she makes (for a time). Secondly, when new ones come I replace the old ones. Finally, at the end of a certain period, I figure out ways to “recycle”.
5 Ideas For Your Child’s Works of Art
- Cards for Loved Ones- My favorite idea is to make greeting cards with your kids’ art. Who uses the post office nowadays? We do! I love homemade items and using my kid’s art for cards definitely makes our card unique.
- Gift Wrapping-On the same “gifting” note, why not use art for gift wrapping? This might take some more maneuvering on your part. For instance, when my daughter paints at home, I like to give her brown blank postal wrapping paper as her canvas.
- Frame it-Why not Frame the art and (once again) gift it? For example: The other day at a street fair, my daughter made a really cool dropper watercolor picture. It’s definitely frame worthy and will make a great gift for my dad’s 79th birthday at the end of the month!
- Hang it up in their room using line and clothespins. And I got this idea from my mom (who is a retired Kindergarten teacher). So she’s used to displaying artwork and this was a really cute idea. Not only is it a great way to display a lot of art. But also it helps to conserve space.
- Make a collage book-You know how you can make albums of photos into one big printed book? Well apparently you can do that with kid’s artwork as well. I found this cool website that does it for you HERE.
Above all, always Remember 2 Savor their artwork! Each year, they should be getting better and better.
