I found this recipe randomly. And I decided I should include this review of the “Best Tuna Casserole” that I found on the internet.
The other day we came home from a weeklong visit to my parents’ house. And I had not done any meal planning for the week. I decided to look around the internet for a casserole recipe. All I had in the house were some “panty staples” (canned tuna, egg noodles and cream of mushroom soup). As well as some shredded cheese my mom had given me. And of course I keep a lot of frozen veggies in the freezer such as the peas this recipe calls for.
Lo and behold there was a recipe with these exact ingredients! Here’s the link to it if you want it.
The Ingredients/Instructions for “The Best Tuna Casserole”

Review of the “Best Tuna Casserole” on the Internet
Let me start off by saying this recipe has 2,838 reviews and 4.3 out of 5 stars. I was expecting.it to be good.
Let’s start with the good:
First, I loved how quick it took to make this recipe. This recipe is seriously so simple and can.be done in 30 minutes or under.
Next, I loved how I had most of the ingredients on hand. Most of the ingredients are panty/fridge/freezer staples.
Finally, I love how this can be frozen for “up to 3 months”. As it’s only me and my 3 year old, we often have a lot of left overs. (We certainly did for this recipe). It’s nice to be able to save some for some emergency lunch in the next 3 months.
Now, let me go over what I didn’t love about this recipe.
For one thing, I thought the actual recipe was a little bland. I don’t know if it’s my taste buds, but whenever I eat tuna I always taste something sour (?). However, the cheese helped offset this though.
Next, I’m not a big fan of using so much processed food. However, I did have these ingredients on hand myself. So I’m not the processed food police. But I do try to watch my intake as much possible. Hence, I made to serve this was some steamed broccoli.
And finally, my daughter wasn’t the biggest fan. Her favorite casserole is still the “Turkey and Potato” casserole. She even asked me, “Where are the potatoes?”.
Overall, it’s a Good Recipe in a Crunch (Literally)
So overall I would give this recipe a 2.5 out of 5 stars. I hate to rate it so low. But given me and my daughter both love casserole, I have to be tough. Literally, she told me, “Mom, I don’t like this casserole”. I gave it a star for how easy and fast it is to. make. Further, I gave it another star for how simple and convenient the ingredients are. But aside from that, we literally still have over half a casserole leftover.
That being said, I would say it’s a good recipe if you’re in a crunch for time. And/or were like me and hadn’t gone food shopping all week. Oh and I would say the crunch on top was the best part of this recipe. Hence, I decided to give it half a star. So a solid 2.5 out of 5.
Whether you use French fried onions or crunched potato chips, the crunch on top combined with the soft noodles underneath lends itself to make for a interesting texture.
According to a lot of reviews, it’s a hit in a lot of households. Maybe it will be in yours as well!
