I had a roommate in my twenties who introduced me to Downy Wrinkle Free Spray. She said it was something she used when she didn’t have time to iron. However, she did note that she would often spray her clothes and then leave it hanging overnight. So I’m sure it’s a great hack for iron less wrinkle free clothes when you don’t have an iron. Not necessarily when you don’t have time.
That being said, I really don’t have time for ironing now.
As a single parent of a busy young toddler, I need all the time hacks I can get.
How Downey Wrinkle Release Spray Works
My roommate explained she would spray with Downy Wrinkle Release. Then she would kind of pull down on the clothes to sort of pull out the wrinkles.
Then she would hang the piece of clothing up. She advised that it was best in the bathroom because if you take a hot shower, the steam will help to release some of the wrinkles.
This really does work., Especially with not so heavy clothes.
However, I will mention that it several years later, a coworker advised me that his wife didn’t use Downy Wrinkle Release. He said water works just as well.
Hack for Iron Less Wrinkle Free Clothes
So the hack I’m writing about isn’t about Downey. It’s about water.
I decided to see for myself if using just an ordinary water spray bottle would be as effective as Downey.
First, I did a side by side comparison of before and after of shirts spray with Downey.
Then, I did another side by side comparison of the same shirts sprayed with just water.
The results might surprise you too!
As you can see you don’t have to pay the $7 or so dollars for the brand name. Just use water! It’s free!
