Whether you are happily married to the father of your kids or co parenting with an ex, it’s a good idea to think of some way to recognize the day. Even if the relationship with an ex is not amicable, it would benefit the child to recognize this day for their father.
Unless of course the father is no where to be found at all. Than it would still benefit the child to recognize a father figure in their life on that day.
Father’s Day: #1 Day for Collect Calls
They say Mother’s Day is the biggest day for phone calls. And Father’s Day is apparently the #1 day for collect calls. Apparently the theory behind it is that moms give more emotions so their kids will want to show their love. Whereas fathers tend to be financial providers. And so they will still be expected to pick up the bill including for a phone call to wish them a Happy Father’s Day.
Hopefully, there are other ideas to celebrate and recognize this day than just collect calling.
Last Minute Father’s Day Ideas
Even if you really despise your ex, that’s still the father of your child. Therefore, it would be nice if you helped your child (especially when underage) to make something or do something for their dad on this day.
Ideas would vary depending on the age of the child of course. Also, it’s important to take into consideration the likes/hobbies of the father.
Ideas for Things to Do:
- Spend the day at the park. Pack a picnic with bikes, balls, etc.
- Fishing with the kids. Provide lunch/snacks. Also, supply fishing line/bait (?)
- Renting a small boat for said fishing trip (?).
- Bowling, golf, basketball with the kids or a miniature golf game.
- Making art together: Perhaps setting up painting supplies for dad and the kids.
- Barbecue with family at the beach.
- Homemade cards, cookies, cakes, and other food.
Hopefully, the day will include things to do with the kids. Although, my other post on Mother’s Day Ideas was mostly about giving mom breaks from the kids and mom duties. Depending on how much the father sees the kid, I feel as though celebrating with the kids is always a good idea. It’s a happy way to celebrate and remember the dad while creating memories and bonding.
To all the truly awesome dads who put in 110 percent effort! Thank you for your contribution to not just your kids but to society. Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there!
Remember 2 Savor Father’s day. We all have a father. And maybe some of us don’t have a father currently. But we all at least know a father currently. Celebrate a good one!
